about me

Rachel Marie is a graphic designer, administrative professional, and communications generalist.

She has meandered through jobs in public affairs, media relations, event planning, administrative management, and grantmaking, while freelancing as a graphic designer. Her graphic design journey began when she was an editor for her high school’s yearbook. Her love and interest in graphic design blossomed, though, as a sophomore in college when she decided it would be easier to design a logo herself than find a stock image that fit her club’s needs. From that moment on, she taught herself the ins and outs of Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, so she could create the designs she imagined. While she continued to work in Illustrator and dabble in Photoshop, Rachel Marie focused her training and work on InDesign, honing her skills as a layout artist. She specializes in designing long form reports ranging from 30-300 pages.

Starting a traditional career in communications, Rachel Marie has managed social media accounts, led media relations for large scale events, redesigned and managed websites, and crafted strategic communications plans and fundraising campaigns. When she decided to attend graduate school, she shifted her career focus to administrative management to allow for better balance with her studies. Through her roles in this field, she discovered her love for organizing and maintaining the day-to-day operations of a team, department, or organization. While she enjoys managing someone’s schedule and creating and orchestrating a project management plan, her passion lies in helping programs step back from the daily work to look at the larger picture and understand how day-to-day decisions impact the larger purpose of their mission. She currently works in grantmaking where she helps grant programs look at the larger picture of their grantmaking while leading drafting and negotiating of grant agreements.

In her spare time, Rachel Marie loves to read, play TTRPGs and board games, and find good coffee shops. She currently lives in Phoenix, AZ with her seven-year old rescue dog.
